Markets in Jaipur

Jaipur is an old city and it was inhabited since 18th century when Sawai Jai Singh implemented his grand plan to build up Jaipur as the capital of his empire. (See history of Jaipur here).  The area is famous for all kinds of crafts including blue pottery, enamel work on gold, terracotta, wooden crafts, stone carving, metal crafts like metal lamps and sandalwood art. Jaipur is also known as City of Gem. Both precious and semi-precious stones are used in jewellery. If you got the capacity, the woollen carpets and cotton rugs are famous too.
